A quiet place in an active holiday paradise. The Sunnegg is situated in the middle of the Kranebitt vineyards and only a few minutes away from the old town of Bressanone. In the bishop's town you can visit museums, churches and last but not least go shopping. Several walking paths pass next to the house, and are accessible all year round. In winter you can go skiing in the nearby ski area Plose.

Hikes from the guesthouse

  • Short hike to Novacella approx. 20 minutes with several possibilities to stop for a break
  • Walk to Bressanone through the recreation area along the newly designed riverside of the Isarco river to the center of the bishop's town (way back also by bus)
  • Circular walk on the apple plateau to Naz through the Sommersürs biotope to Rasa, passing the Raier Moos and back.

The circular path leads across the vineyards of Kranebitt and Novacella to the Augustinian canons' monastery of Novacella to Bressanone and back.

From the Sunnegg towards Novacella (trail 3-15). The way back leads at the southern end of the monastery garden through the vineyard to the Alte Pustertaler Straße. Once you cross this road, head up to Köfererleite alley and follow the 4A marker  through the terraced slopes to the Strasserhof guesthouse. Isarco Valley Wine Trail is marked here and leads through vineyards and woods. You will reach the trail no. 6, which leads downhill to the south over Stufles to Bressanone. From Bressanone you then return to Kranebitt and to Sunnegg, where a glas of house wine will round off your wine experience.

Archeopath in Bressanone

The Archeopath starts in the heart of the old town of Bressanone at the Ponte Aquila (bridge) and leads along the Stufles alleys through vineyards to the Guggerhof. Continue on path no. 1 towards Elvas to the palisades and shell stones, from there turn left to hill Pinaz with its lookout tower and weather cross. In Elvas there is an exhibition at the school, on path no. 2 you pass the church and Roman chariots and wheel tracks in the rocky ground. On the Wirtschaftsweg (street), the Archeopath finally leads to Novacella passing near a witch's stone in the forest. Southward it goes through the vineyards back to Bressanone with an exhibition in Stufles.

Excursion & insider tips from the host family

  • Explore the Scaleres Valley. The mountain village of Scaleres and the high plateau with its forests and meadows as well as the beautiful Schrütten lakes are a little insider's tip.
  • Enjoy summit and alpine happiness on the picturesque high alpine pastures of Rodengo and Villandro. For those who want to get higher, there are two 3000m peaks around Bressanone in Valles: the Valmala peak and the Picco della Croce peak.
  • In winter a day of skiing in the ski area Plose 30 min. (reachable by bus). The ski areas in Valles and Meranza are also reachable in 30 min.
  • … or just start walking and see where you end up ... Bressanone is centrally located and is the perfect starting point to explore South Tyrol.
