Our wine from the Valle Isarco & winery in Brixen - South Tyrol

Homemade wine and authentic drinking pleasure

A glass of wine is something special at Sunnegg. Sit down in our guest garden, the lounge, or make yourself comfortable on your own balcony and let your gaze wander over the vineyard. A glass of the house wine in your hand. Surrounded by perfect enjoyment.

A mix of hobby, passion and family tradition. Viticulture is much more than an activity for the host family Thaler and began with Alexander's grandfather, who produced wine for his own use, as was usual in the past. Later, the cultivation area was increased and today father and son take care of the fine wines.

The love of nature, the good balance between taking and giving is the basis of the daily life in the vineyard. Mr. Hermann, the senior chief, is responsible for the vineyard: he devotes his time and passion to the vines. Alexander, on the other hand, is responsible for the work in the cellar.

The grape harvest is always something special at Sunnegg: once the work is done, it is traditionally followed by a rich meal. Every year, the inn guests and customers of the restaurant join in to help and celebrate together afterwards.

Viticulture

Being a guest in a wine producer's guesthouse means …

  • Wine sale at the farm: give your loved ones a little present from your vacation, or enjoy a piece of Sunnegg at home.
  • enjoy homemade wines in the restaurant
  • try your hand at harvesting and learn a lot about harvesting, winemaking and cellar work
  • participate in wine tastings in the cellar
  • ... and meet the winemaker himself for a chat.

Our wines

Bressanone is the northernmost wine-growing region in Italy. In our vineyard we grow the typical white wine varieties of the Isarco Valley: Sylvaner and Kerner as well as the intense red Zweigelt.

Alexander Thaler

"I really enjoy working in the cellar. Every year has its own peculiarities and you always learn something new. We are always tasting and trying to improve our wine"
